Finally after a long wait, we also came the opening of the ski season. The snowfalls of these last two weeks have helped all the facilities of the park being put into operation at full capacity. Today we visited the facilities of Mount Sirino. The day was not the best, but it was not cold and the snow was really beautiful. All slopes and the lifts were open, thanks to a snowpack that exceeded one meter.

In perimeter of the National Park Appennino Lucano there are four ski areas: the Mountain of the Pope-Sirino Mountain Madonna di Viggiano Monte Volturino and Mount Pierfaone (complex Sellata-Arioso).

The possibility of winter sports can enjoy at the park, and is one more reason to visit this protected area even during the winter, a period of some quieter and less crowded with tourists. Of course on our slopes you can enjoy various sports, from skiing, cross-country skiing, but also tobogganing, snowboarding, without neglecting the snowshoeing.

A nice walk in proportion with snowshoes is certainly one of the best ways to approach to landscape and atmosphere of the Appennino Lucano.

All stations are equipped with lifts, lodges and restaurants of Bar and of course you can also learn to ski, thanks to the masters of the Italian School of Sci mean a good opportunity to spend a weekend in joy with the whole family.

The stations are easily accessible and the traffic is always guaranteed by an effective use of that snow, especially during the weekends are always at work. In general, our trails attract many fans from Puglia, but also by Campania and Calabria.

tonight on Rai 1 spoke of the surprising question of the Agri River. A recent monitoring campaign carried out by WWF Basilicata this summer showed that the river is reduced in poor condition. Even is the last but three Italian river. Landfills, water drainage works and discharges of industrial zones have now turned the largest river in a cesspool Lucan, as well 51 illegal deposits of waste in just 36 Km, and even some 91 or pears cross (dams, sleepers, dams, brush). To all this we must add as many as 28 unidentified discharges. In short, our river fell really bad ...

Yet it is at the center of a national park, but this does not seem to put away the ignorance, neglect and stoltaggine people.

Some people assumed that some of those piles of asbestos and other unidentified materials have come from regions near ... but there are only hypothetical you. It is true that, unfortunately, many locals have the bad habit of pouring into the river every kind of material, including entire car.

However, in the midst of this heterogeneous collection of waste and malfeasance, peep three very funny otters to revive the reputation of our dear old river. The footage of the happy weasel playing happily in a pond at the edge of the river is the most beautiful things you can expect to see along a watercourse. Hopefully this is a good omen for the Agri and its future ...
